In this article, you learn the recommended order of operations in Dragon admin center. After completing the prerequisites, you're ready to conduct operations in Dragon admin center.
Prerequisites
- Access to a provisioned Microsoft 365 tenant.
Note
There can only be one instance of Dragon admin center per Microsoft 365 tenant.
A Microsoft 365 Global Administrator who can grant permissions, create security groups, and review Dragon Copilot requirements.
Purchase licenses - Dragon Copilot (Nurse Per User). For more information, see: Licensing for nurses
Create new or identify existing Nursing users and administrative users in Microsoft Entra.
Assign and manage user roles and assign licenses.
For more information, see: Get started with Dragon admin center
1. Access Dragon admin center
In Microsoft 365 admin center, go to All admin centers > Microsoft Dragon.
2. Create a new environment in Dragon admin center
In the Management section of the navigation pane, select Environments.
An environment is a container where you can provision a Dragon Copilot instance and manage it in the context of your organization's settings, requirements, and target audiences across the business.
For more information, see: Environments
3. Provision Dragon Copilot in Dragon admin center
Provisioning is the creation and configuration of a resource so that it's ready for use. You must have one or more Dragon Copilot (Nurse Per User) licenses to provision Dragon Copilot in the environment that you created. Your environment can only have one instance of each Dragon Copilot capability.
For more information, see:
4. Set up your organization in Dragon admin center
In the Environment configuration section of the navigation pane, select Organization.
On the Organization page, you can configure an organization hierarchy and manage healthcare groups of users. The following tabs are available:
Hierarchy: Create a hierarchy that reflects your business needs, whether that's the structure of your organization or how you want to manage your products and users.
Healthcare groups (Optional): Create healthcare groups of users that inherit product configurations when associated with organizational units.
5. Define your organization hierarchy
Create a hierarchy that reflects your business needs, whether it's the structure of your organization or how you want to manage your products and users through different logical groupings.
For more information, see: Organization hierarchy
6. Create healthcare groups (optional)
Add users from your Entra tenant as members of the organizational unit or create healthcare groups. These healthcare groups of users can be users that share similar configurations. You can associate these groups with organizational units.
For more information, see: Healthcare groups
7. Add electronic health record (EHR) partners and users to your organization (optional)
Note
If you're only working with the standalone Dragon Copilot apps from Microsoft, you can skip EHR management.
In the Environment configuration section of the navigation pane, select Connector.
If you're working with Dragon Copilot embedded in an EHR, you need to add, configure, and manage your EHR instance in Dragon admin center. This action creates a link between your EHR instance and your Dragon Copilot embedded app. In this EHR instance, you can add your EHR user IDs that allow you to configure the Dragon Copilot embedded app for users within that instance.
For more information, see: EHR management
8. Review your Dragon Copilot solution in Dragon admin center
In the Dragon Copilot section of the navigation pane, select Nurses.
Note
Dragon Copilot combines our proven conversational and ambient AI with the newest and most capable generative AI, healthcare-adapted safeguards, and new capabilities on a scalable platform. For more information, see: Microsoft Dragon Copilot
The Overview tab enables you to configure the Dragon Copilot (nurses) capability (all modalities: embedded, web, desktop, and mobile) through settings in the context of the organization hierarchy.
For more information, see: Microsoft Dragon Copilot (nurses)
9. Configure Dragon Copilot settings in Dragon admin center
In the Dragon Copilot section of the navigation pane, select Nurses > Settings.
You can configure settings for Dragon Copilot and enable them by organizational unit, depending on the needs of your users in each organizational unit to customize different user experiences. You can enable, disable, and lock settings, and also reset settings.
For more information, see: Configure settings
10. Manage Information Assist sources and tools in Dragon admin center (optional)
In the Environment configuration section of the navigation pane, select Information Assist.
Information Assist gives users access to vetted and verified information sources. Users can query these sources in Dragon Copilot to get answers based on credible clinical content.
Manage access to Information Assist sources and tools to ensure that users have access to the right information for their role and specialty.
For more information, see: Manage Information Assist
11. Import and manage flowsheet templates and guides in Dragon admin center
Flowsheet templates define the layout and configuration of nursing documentation workflows. You can enable these templates for ambient recording so that activities documented by voice are captured automatically.
In the Dragon Copilot section of the navigation pane, select Nurses.
Select Flowsheet manager. Use this tool to import flowsheet templates from your electronic health record (EHR), and to configure and enable them for ambient recording in Dragon Copilot.
Consider the following details and steps when working with the Flowsheet manager:
Before importing the flowsheet schema export, ensure that the EHR connector is set up correctly.
Work with your EHR administrator to get access to the flowsheet schema export for upload. They provide the correct schema details for the import.
Note
Import all available flowsheet templates from your EHR. This approach allows testing of flowsheet templates as new service line support is released.
Importing a flowsheet schema export might take a few minutes. You can monitor the import progress for the last 48 hours in Import History.
Work with your EHR administrator to identify the correct service line, role, and template type values for your imported templates. You don't need to assign values to all imported templates, but you must assign these values for templates that you enable for ambient recording.
After you assign the service line, role, and template type values, you can enable the templates for ambient recording in Dragon Copilot.
For more information, see: Import and manage flowsheet templates
Select Guide. Use this tool to configure the guide that helps users recall what to capture during recording of more complex types of documentation. Once published, your updates are immediately available for review in Dragon Copilot. For more information, see: Manage and configure guides
In the Operations section, select AI customization manager. Use this tool to configure the AI customization manager, which provides dashboards to analyze, optimize, and validate the flowsheet templates enabled for ambient recording.
- The AI customization manager provides several features to manage the templates enabled for ambient recording, including detailed hierarchical viewers for flowsheet templates and LDA groups, schema analyzer, and Tune accuracy to manage test cases. For more information, see: AI customization manager
Note
Creating and executing test cases is a critical step in the initial deployment and during any updates to your flowsheet schemas. The test cases allow you to preview how extractions work and verify accuracy before going live with Dragon Copilot.
- For a detailed end-to-end workflow using AI customization manager tools to validate your flowsheet templates, see Work with the AI customization manager.
