Dragon Copilot is an AI clinical assistant with capabilities purpose-built for nurses, capturing care in real time with ambient flowsheet documentation to reduce administrative burden and streamline workflows—so nurses spend more time with patients and less time charting.
Here are some key features of Dragon Copilot (nurses):
Flowsheet capture: Dragon Copilot automatically captures nurse-patient interactions and converts them into structured flowsheet entries within the EHR. This ambient documentation approach reduces manual input and ensures timely, accurate records.
Nursing notes: Nursing users can generate narrative notes to document unexpected events, patient requests, or safety concerns.
Access the Dragon Copilot embedded experience for nurses
To enable the Epic-embedded experience, ensure that users are provisioned with the appropriate roles in the latest version of Epic Rover, and that ambient documentation is enabled for their environment. The experience launches automatically within Rover when a nurse selects a patient and begins documentation.
The administration journey
Administrators can use Dragon admin center to provision, configure, and manage Dragon Copilot (nurses) for end users based on the needs of the organization. Dragon admin center provides you with:
The power of scale: Brings together the power of Microsoft 365 admin center and the ability to manage Dragon Copilot through the Dragon admin center in an all-in-one solution. This unification of the procurement and administration experience provides an entry point into the Microsoft ecosystem (if you're a new customer) while also allowing you to manage your licenses and users through one platform.
The ability to self-serve the needs of your organization: As administrators, you understand the needs of your organization best. Dragon admin center provides a simple and easy-to-navigate interface that allows for customization without being time consuming.
Advanced functionalities such as:
EHR management for your Dragon Copilot embedded app: Easily link your EHR instances to Dragon Copilot and drive customizations based on different needs of different users.
Flexible customizations: Apply settings and features for Dragon Copilot users based on your organization hierarchy to optimize user experience and value.
Support from Microsoft support.
Compliance with Microsoft standards of privacy, compliance, and security.
Nursing-specific management
Once environments have been configured, EHR settings saved, and your organization is configured, onboarding customers to the Dragon Copilot embedded experience for nurses includes an additional set of tasks:
- Importing EHR flowsheet schema exports.
- Reviewing the imported flowsheet template details for completeness.
- Tagging flowsheet templates with additional metadata like Service line, Role, and Template type.
- Enabling the flowsheet templates for ambient recording in Dragon Copilot.
- Evaluating the enabled flowsheet templates for validity and completeness.
- Reviewing schema validation output for structural issues that can impact AI accuracy.
- Creating and executing test cases to check for accuracy pre-deployment.
Dragon admin center provides self service tools for onboarding tasks and ongoing operational management.
Roles and responsibilities
Dragon admin center offers functionality for both customer rollout and operational management. While all users working with Dragon admin center must have the Dragon administrator role assigned in Microsoft 365 admin center, they might have different roles in your organization. Aligning the activities with the right people is critical to successful management of Dragon Copilot (nurses) in Dragon admin center.
Customer administrator (hospital IT administrator)
The customer administrator configures and manages Dragon admin center and related EHR integrations. Their responsibilities include:
- Configuring the clinical app connector between the EHR instance and Dragon Copilot embedded.
- Managing identities and licenses in Microsoft 365 admin center and Microsoft Azure.
- Managing environments and organization hierarchies.
- Managing Dragon Copilot (nurses) settings and feature flags.
- Transferring flowsheet template metadata to other environments.
- Monitoring user/session counts via Dragon Copilot analytics to validate rollout health.
Nursing informaticist (hospital clinical analyst)
The nursing informaticist ensures that documentation-related AI behavior aligns with real-world nursing practice by validating flowsheet schemas, examples, and flowsheet template correctness. This role requires expertise in nursing informatics, flowsheet schema design and validation, clinical standards and guardrails, prompt/test case curation via AI customization manager, and accuracy and consistency validation methods.
The nursing informaticist's responsibilities include:
- Building and reviewing test cases.
- Identifying issues, such as missing flowsheet templates, incorrectly deployed flowsheet templates, and cascading row structures.
- Validating the clinical logic of flowsheet hierarchical structures.
- Ensuring correct mapping of synonyms and example-based LDA routing.
- Validating that the AI's interpretation matches clinical intent.
