What's new in Microsoft Sustainability Manager - April 2026

Release information

Important

Updates

  • "Direct CO₂e" custom AR version for use in calculation profiles

    A new custom AR version named "Direct CO₂e (GWP=1)" is added to the list of AR versions. Use this version for factors released by sources that provide CO₂ equivalent emission factors for gases, like IEA.

  • Upload data request responses using an Excel template

    Data owners can upload data in bulk for data requests by using the standard Excel templates (available through Data Imports).

  • GHG Emissions (preview) for Reporting Metrics calculation models

    You can create calculation models with GHG Emissions as a source. These models generate facts that are linked to concepts as configured in the calculation model or profile. A few default models are provided for CSRD-related metrics.

  • Change in the display order of the concepts listing screen

    The default concept list now appears on the first page of the listing screen. Previously, concepts with the prefix "AIGenerated_" appeared first.

  • Refresh storage permissions for copied data flows

    A new Refresh Permission button is added to the ribbon in the Data Imports screen. Select this button to trigger a permissions refresh and run additional validations. This update addresses problems with editing imports in copied environments caused by a Dataflows platform limitation.

  • Scope slicer in energy insights dashboards

    A scope-related slicer is now available within the energy insights dashboards.

  • Accounting method filter on Scope 1 in Analytics

    This update adds the Accounting method filter to Scope 1 analytics, aligning Scope 1 with the existing Scope 2 and Scope 3 functionality. To view this filter, go to Analytics > Emissions insights.

  • Show disclaimer while trying to Change owner for connections

    Data imports functionality depends on Dataflows and is constrained by its limitations. Users see a message before changing the owner of a connection.

  • Updated DEFRA Hotel Stay emission factors

    The DEFRA Hotel Stay emission factors (Scope 3 Category 6 – Business Travel) now use Country/Region records instead of Spend Type.

  • Updated EPA 2025 factor libraries

    The EPA 2025 factor libraries are updated to align with the latest EPA standard revisions, adding EPA 2025 - eGRID 2023 Data (Revision 2: June 12, 2025).

Waste and Circularity data getting modified in closed reporting period

Previously, the system modified data for waste and circularity-related preview tables in a closed reporting period. This issue is fixed.

Sustainability data definition (SDD) column value not getting auto populated for facility item production records

Previously, the system didn't autpopulate SDD for new records created for facility item production. This issue is fixed.

Previously, undoing incorrect changes often required closing and reopening the model. The experience is now more seamless with improved state management.

Previously, the Advanced calc source node showed incorrect allocation label filters. This problem is fixed.

All Emission Factors not showing up in emission factor PDF

Previously, the emission factor PDF didn't show all emission factors. This problem is fixed.

Export to PDF didn't export all emission factors from IEA Factor Library
