Hi techtrover,
Based on your description, it seems that your previous installation didn’t complete successfully so the repair doesn’t work. In this case, I would suggest you manually uninstall your SQL Server as described here, then re-install it again. If the issue persists, I would suggest you post the setup log for the new installation so we can have a better understanding about the issue.
If you have any other questions, please let me know.
Regards,
Lin

What errors did you get when you ran the original install?
Have you tried running the install again with repair option?
The error message show that the original install was not successfully configured and thus could not be repaired.
Post the detailed log file from thye directory C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\120\Setup Bootstrap\Log of the first install you did.
Please, try to uninstall al SQL Server components and reinstall again.
Please mark the answer as solved and vote as helpful to help others

Hi Rajesh,
If you are using a virtual machine I would recommend rebuild a new image and start the installation again.
If you are using your laptop and installing directly then I strongly recommend to uninstall the sql server from add and remove programs and try to install again.
Your first installation never completed.
Good luck
Kumar
