Hello:
When I go to Control Panel-> All Control Panel Items -> System -> Advanced system settings -> Environment Variables -> System Variables -> Path, and click the Edit button, it brings up a Window to edit. Presently, when I bring up the window to edit, there are 14 rows in that table:
%SystemRoot%\system32
%SystemRoot%
%SystemRoot%\System32\Wbem
%SYSTEMROOT%\System32\WindowsPowerShell\v1.0\
%USERPROFILE%\dnx\bin
C:\Program Files\Microsoft DNX\Dnvm\
C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\120\Tools\Binn\
C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\130\Tools\Binn\
C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Emulator Manager\1.0\
C:\Program Files (x86)\nodejs\
C:\Program Files\Git\cmd
C:\Program Files (x86)\Windows Kits\10\Windows Performance Toolkit\
%JAVA_HOME%\bin
%JRE_HOME%\bin
I need to add another item to the path. When I click the New button and then add that item, instead of adding it to the 15th row it overwrites the last item in the table. So instead of having 15 items now, it still has 14 but the last item in the path was deleted
%SystemRoot%\system32
%SystemRoot%
%SystemRoot%\System32\Wbem
%SYSTEMROOT%\System32\WindowsPowerShell\v1.0\
%USERPROFILE%\dnx\bin
C:\Program Files\Microsoft DNX\Dnvm\
C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\120\Tools\Binn\
C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\130\Tools\Binn\
C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Emulator Manager\1.0\
C:\Program Files (x86)\nodejs\
C:\Program Files\Git\cmd
C:\Program Files (x86)\Windows Kits\10\Windows Performance Toolkit\
%JAVA_HOME%\bin
D:\cygwin\bin
If you compare the before and after, you'll see the %JRE_HOME%\bin was replaced with the recent item entered.
How can I keep the items in the system path variable from being truncated????
Thanks!

Since it looks like this question isn't going to be answered (just the typical languishing of topics on these forums because the problems are clearly the OP's fault), I'll post a workaround for anyone else who comes across it. I was able to get path variables to persist using a 3rd party product: https://www.rapidee.com/en/about
Editing the Registry directly works too. But with the UI, that's an option for people who aren't comfortable editing the Registry. This is clearly a bug with Enterprise flavors. Doubt it will be fixed. Now you have 2 workarounds.

Well could not recreate this on a standard Windows 10 Pro system, 1607.
So wondering what is different? What version of Windows 10?
Was it upgraded from a previous version of Windows?
Is this a domain machine that may have group policies applied?

Hi,
I have tested on my PC with Windows 10 pro build 14393.693, and I can create more than 14 environment vvariable.
Your issue could be some limitation settings. Please run gpresult /h c:\gpreport.html under CMD running as admin, and check the report to see if there is any Domain configuration to block this.

Thanks for the reply! Here are the answers to your questions.
I'm running 10 Enterprise N. Version 1607 Build 14393.693
It was a clean, full, install from ISO; not an upgrade.
It's not on a domain. Localhost only
Addtionally... I CAN create more than the previously mentioned items in the PATH system variable. HOWEVER, when I reboot, it truncates them. So yes, I can do the same thing as you:
D:\ThisIsMadeUp\FiolderA\FolderB
D:\ThisIsMadeUp\FiolderA\FolderB
D:\ThisIsMadeUp\FiolderA\FolderB
D:\ThisIsMadeUp\FiolderA\FolderB
D:\ThisIsMadeUp\FiolderA\FolderB
D:\ThisIsMadeUp\FiolderA\FolderB
But after a reboot, it reverts to
%JAVA_HOME%\bin
D:\ThisIsMadeUp\FiolderA\FolderB
Thanks again for your help!
