I am facing issue in giving a set of users such permission so that they can only view the documents but can't download and print those documents.
What I tried to do till now is : created a document library and a folder inside this library, for folder I choose to stop inheriting permissions and given the user permission here as "view only". I want to put all the documents which will have restricted access in this folder and giving the users permission accordingly. Other documents in the library can be viewed by everyone as per there permissions.
Now for testing I added a user in site collection as Contributor, and in the folder I gave him view only permission. I also cross checked these permissions for document library and for the folder inside document library. For document library user is having contributor, limited access and for the folder user have view only access. Now when I log in using users credentials, I saw that user can download the documents from folder.
I also tried to stop inherit for library and then giving the permission to user. But hav't helped.
Anyone faced such issue please help.

Hi,
You can not restrict user to download or print the document through permission without configuring IRM. If user is able to view the document then also he/she can save the document in his/her desktop or print through browser.
So you will need to configure IRM and provide the permission accordingly. See my reply in below thread:
Hope it could help

Hi.
Perhaps if IRM or RMS is out of your reach, have a look at using Office Web Apps and then only allow users to open a document in their brower and not to save or print? Don't know if it is possible to do, but maybe?
Because Hemendra is right that if a user can open the document in his client application without any IRM restrictions, he can also save it and then print it.

IRM or RMS is out of site owner reach. But using OWA but only for PDF file can be restricted from print and download from SharePoint 2013 site .But user should only have View Permission (Not READ,EDIT or Full control permission ).This is only available to PDF files .In search result it will not work as well .In search result same PDF document ,the users will get access denied
