Spy++ not showing messages.

Question

Monday, November 18, 2013 7:20 PM

Spy++ doesn't show any messages for any window/process I attach to.  Any.

Logging is on (green light), all message types selected, etc.

Absolutely no messages appear.

Any ideas?

Hi,

Please try to use the Finder Tool in ‘Find Window’ to locate the expected window and show message.

Please see: How to: Open Messages View from Find Window

Reference:

If no help, which version and edition of Visual Studio do you work with?

I assume you mean that no message will appear in Message Window when you right click some windows/processes and select ‘Message’, whether other windows/processes can get message?

I also doubt that your operation is not enought to get the message. For some windows, I can't get the message only through click 'start loging' and 'stop logging'.Please do some actions on the window after starting logging and stop logging to check the result.

I know I'm a little late. But I found this thread with Google, so others will end up here too.

I had the same problem, when I used spy++ 64 on some Chrome window. No messages displayed at all, no error message. Using spy++ (without the 64) it works fine though.

Hope this helps

I confirm, spy++ version matters.

spyxx_amd64 works for me, but spyxx.exe doesn't show messages.
