As a Microsoft Q&A moderator, you have the ability to escalate a question thread. Escalating a thread draws the attention of the wider moderator community to offer support, provide answers, and help guide a question towards a quicker resolution.
Prerequisites
- You need to be signed into Q&A.
- You need to be a moderator in Q&A.
Escalate a question
If you're a moderator, follow these steps to escalate a question thread:
- From the Questions page, select any question you would like to escalate.
- From the question overflow menu (the ellipsis), select "Escalate thread".
- In the dialog box, provide a comment on why the thread is being escalated. This information will be available in the thread history.
- Select "OK" to complete the escalation. The question has been added to the Escalated tab of the Moderation queue.
Remove an escalation
If you're a moderator, and a question no longer needs to be escalated, follow these steps to remove the escalation:
- From the escalated question, select the overflow menu (the ellipsis) and select "Remove escalation".
- In the dialog box, provide a comment on why the thread escalation is being removed. This information will be available in the thread history.
- Select "OK" to remove the escalation.

An escalation can also be removed by selecting "Remove escalation" on the question from the Escalated tab of the Moderation queue.
