hi I just got an email this morning that someone was added to my family safety. I don't have family safety. Then a few mins later I get a charge from Microsoft for $50 on my bank account. Is this a scam?

I got the same email also on 1/29, and until I got it I had never heard of Microsoft Family Safety. I have a desktop computer with a Windows OS and nothing else I can think of (at home) from Microsoft.

There's no way in hell or earth I was going to click on that. None of the usual obvious misspellings, but it's still got to be a phish and I reported it as spam. Microsoft has no credit card information directly from me anyway, since the OS came with the computer and everything else I've loaded on it is open source.

I don't know where or even if I should look for further trouble from this.

I just had this same thing happen to me. I got an email that "Lillianna Gelvin" joined my Microsoft Safety Family and then 12 minutes later there were four $50 charges from the Microsoft Store to one of my credit cards.

I had to cancel my CC. I have no idea how this is happening, but Microsoft needs to SHUT IT DOWN!!!

I agree, their customer service claimed to start an investigation but I felt so uncomfortable afterwards that I just canceled and took all my information off. It’s unfortunate if there’s at least 3 of us looking for answers there must be countless others.

I just checked and it doesn't show anything. I ended up changing my password and canceling my debit card. is it possible that by gaining access they got my debit card info?
