Hello,

i have domain A with Windows Server 2019 and Domain B at Windows Server 2012.

both are toatally different doamin and i need to make a trust relation between them. i followed the below article.
https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/archive/msdn-technet-forums/9e501d72-5457-421a-b81b-3a1f83ac7b0e

Right now i am able to create a dns conditional forwarder successfully on domain A but when i try to create a conditional forwarder at Domain B it shows errror "a problem occured while trying to add the conditional forwarder a zone configuration problem occured".

The IP is validated during making forwarder and when i click ok it shows the error. i checked the network connectivity is OK and Domain a is resolving the Domain B but Domain b is not able to resolve domain A.

Now i need help on this to resolve teh query.

    Hello

From you describe, you try to create conditional forward at windows server 2008 and 2012. and both is end of support at 2020.1 and 2023.10

Windows Server 2012 and 2012 R2 reaching end of support - Microsoft Lifecycle | Microsoft Learn

End of support for Windows Server 2008 and Windows Server 2008 R2 | Microsoft Learn

so, it may have some problem between this system version and windows server 2019.

here have two solution may can help for a further analyze

    1. promote a windows server 2019 as a DC at domain B. and using this DC to create conditional forward and build trust relationship with Domain A.
    2. create a new domain as a windows server 2008 or 2012. and build the trust with Domain A and Domain B.

If this new domain name can successfully establish conditional forwarding with domain names A and B, then the DNS setting of domain name B is wrong. If it is the same as domain name B, then it is the default, and you need to change the DC version first.

    Best regards

    Yanhong
