JSON claims transformations
This article provides examples for using the JSON claims transformations of the Identity Experience Framework schema in Azure Active Directory B2C (Azure AD B2C). For more information, see claims transformations.
CreateJsonArray
Create a JSON single element array from a claim value. Check out the Live demo of this claims transformation.

GenerateJson
Use either claim values or constants to generate a JSON string. The path string following dot notation is used to indicate where to insert the data into a JSON string. After splitting by dots, any integers are interpreted as the index of a JSON array and non-integers are interpreted as the index of a JSON object.

JSON Arrays
To add JSON objects to a JSON array, use the format of array name and the index in the array. The array is zero based. Start with zero to N, without skipping any number. The items in the array can contain any object. For example, the first item contains two objects, app and appId. The second item contains a single object, program. The third item contains four objects, color, language, logo and background.
The following example demonstrates how to configure JSON arrays. The emails array uses the InputClaims
with dynamic values. The values array uses the InputParameters
with static values.

To specify a JSON array in both the input claims and the input parameters, you must start the array in the InputClaims
element, zero to N. Then, in the InputParameters
element continue the index from the last index.
The following example demonstrates an array that is defined in both the input claims and the input parameters. The first item of the values array values.0
is defined in the input claims. The input parameters continue from index one values.1
through two index values.2

The following claims transformation outputs a JSON string claim that will be the body of the request sent to SendGrid (a third-party email provider). The JSON object's structure is defined by the IDs in dot notation of the InputParameters and the TransformationClaimTypes of the InputClaims. Numbers in the dot notation imply arrays. The values come from the InputClaims' values and the InputParameters' "Value" properties.

The following claims transformation outputs a JSON string claim that will be the body of the request sent to a REST API. The JSON object's structure is defined by the IDs in dot notation of the InputParameters and the TransformationClaimTypes of the InputClaims. The GenerateJson claims transformation accepts plain strings. If an input claim contains a JSON string, that string will be escaped. In the following example, if you use email output from CreateJsonArray above, that is ["[email protected]"], as an input parameter, the email will look like as shown in the following JSON claim:

The GetClaimFromJson claims transformation gets a single element from a JSON data. In the preceding example, the emailAddress. To get the displayName, create another claims transformation. For example:
