Add account for QR Code

Question

Saturday, April 8, 2017 5:18 PM

Many versions ago, the ability to add an account by scanning a QR code was possible. This ability/feature appears to be done in the newer authenticator version (v6.1.2). Are there plans to bring this ability back? Right now it appears you can only click on Add Account>choose type of account>then sign in .. no option to scan from QR code.

Thanks.

Hi TFHDC,

As we know, we can scan QR code to add Work or school account or Other (Google, Facebook, etc),

and we can’t add Personal account with scan QR code.

According to your description, I test Microsoft Authenticator APP (v 6.1.2) with nexus 6p (Android V 7.1.2), I am able to add Work or school account by scanning QR code.

If you can't use QR code to add "Work or school account" or "Other (Google, Facebook, etc)", maybe we should check the permissions for Microsoft Authenticator APP.

More information about the permissions the app asks for, please refer to the link below.

If your permissions settings are right, and still can’t scan QR code, could you please take a screenshot and your phone version, then post them here, which could be beneficial for diagnosis.

Best regards,

Jason
