Equipment List Not Displaying in Address Book

Question

Thursday, March 1, 2018 4:35 PM

I have several rooms and equipment set up in Office365. In the Outlook address book I can see all rooms under the "All Rooms" address list . There is no list called "All Equipment" however.  How do I create a list for All Equipment?

Hi,

Yes, there's no built-in address list for Equipment mailbox.
However, we can create a custom address list with all Equipment mailbox.

Try the step below:

  1. Connect to Exchange Online using remote PowerShell.
  2. Run the following cmdlet:
New-AddressList -Name "All equipments" -RecipientFilter {(RecipientTypedetails -eq 'equipmentMailbox')}

Note: we need to wait 24-48 hours to update address list and objects in Exchange Online since there's no Update-AddressList and Update-GlobalAddressList in Exchange Online. If users that should appear an address list do not, change the required property value for those users to a temporary value, and then back to the value that's required by the address list.

Allen -

I was unable to connect to Connect to Exchange Online through PowerShell. I followed the instructions in the link you provided but got errors on the command in Step 2.

$Session = New-PSSession -ConfigurationName Microsoft.Exchange -ConnectionUri https://outlook.office365.com/powershell-liveid/ -Credential $UserCredential -Authentication Basic -AllowRedirection

Hi,

Please check three points:

  1. Run Windows PowerShell as administrator.
  2. Run "Get-ExecutionPolicy", ensure it's RemoteSigned.
    If not, run "Set-ExecutionPolicy RemoteSigned"
  3. Ensure the your account has permission to login Office 365 Portal.

Thanks Allen. I was able to connect and create the list but nothing shows up under it for some reason.

This is the command that  I ran:

New-AddressList -Name "All equipments" -RecipientFilter {(RecipientTypedetails -eq 'equipmentMailbox')}

Also, I accidentally called this "All equipments" instead of "All Equipment". Is it possible to rename this?

Any update now?

Yes, we can use Set-AddressList with Name parameter to reset name of Address List.

The equipment still does not show under the list for some reason. I can see the list in the address book though.

I tried using the following command to rename the list but it did not work:

Set-AddressList -Identity "All equipments" -Name All Equipment

Hi,

Which account are you used now?
From the error message, it indicate that your account has no proper permission to run Set-AddressList, you can login Exchange Online Portal, switch to Permission, Admin Roles and add your account as a member of Organization Management role group, then restart PowerShell and connect to Exchange again.

To update this address list, please set a temporary property (for example: ConditionalCustomAttribute1 as Equipment), then update address list as described in Update an address list section.

I added my account as a member of Organization Management role group, then restarted PowerShell and connected to Exchange again. I still get the same error as mentioned above. I do not understand how to set a temporary property.

This is the command I am running:

Set-AddressList -Identity "All equipments" -Name All Equipment

I need to rename "All equipments" to "All Equipment"

Also, none of the equipment resources are showing under this address list.
