Close Microsoft Authenticator completely, update it, and retry the existing Artifact Signing identity validation without a VPN or weak connection; if the same generic AU10TIX error remains, open an Azure Support request rather than creating duplicate validation requests.

Retry without repeating the photo adjustments

Since stabilizing the phone and changing the lighting did not help, try the documented technical checks:

    1. Force-close every Microsoft Authenticator instance, then reopen it.
    2. Update Microsoft Authenticator to the latest Android or iOS version.
    3. If the process started in a browser, clear that browser’s cache or use another browser.
    4. Disable any VPN or proxy and use a reliable Internet connection.
    5. If available, open the validation link and complete the process on another phone.

These steps address communication and device-specific failures between the browser, Authenticator, Verified ID, and the validation service.^1^

    Check the submitted identity information

Before another attempt, compare the Artifact Signing request with the government-issued ID:

    • First and last names, including spelling and order.
    • Address and formatting.
    • For individual validation, the email in the request must be the same account used to open the validation link.
    • If an address mismatch exists, update the relevant contact or billing address so it matches the government ID.

If the Azure validation status specifically reports address mismatch, name mismatch, or FaceCheck failure, Microsoft’s documented recovery is to:

    1. Delete the existing identity-validation request.
    2. Remove its associated Verified ID from Microsoft Authenticator.
    3. Submit a new identity-validation request with accurate information.
    4. Create a new Verified ID.^1^

Do not delete the request merely for the generic “Oops” message unless one of those specific errors appears or Azure Support instructs you to do so. Also, do not create multiple requests for the same entity while one remains in progress; Microsoft states that duplicates do not help and validation cannot be expedited.^1^

    Escalate the persistent generic error

Open Azure portal → Help + support → Create a support request, or use the Azure Help and Support blade. Select Artifact Signing or the closest subscription/service category available. Azure Support is the documented support route for Artifact Signing identity-validation problems.^1^

    Include this diagnostic information:

    • Artifact Signing account and resource-group names.
    • Whether this is Individual or Organization validation.
    • Identity-validation request ID, if displayed.
    • Exact error text and approximate timestamp with time zone.
    • Phone model, mobile OS version, and Authenticator version.
    • Browser used and whether another browser/device produced the same result.
    • Confirmation that VPN/proxy was disabled.
    • Screenshot of the error, with personal information and ID details removed.
    • Number of remaining attempts, if shown.

Identity validation must be completed through the Azure portal and cannot be completed through Azure CLI.^2^
