Artifact Signing service still returns expired certificate (Oct 16-19) after profile rotated to new cert

My Artifact Signing account (East US, Basic tier) cannot sign anything. Every sign request fails because the service hands out an expired certificate.

  • Identity validation: Completed, valid until 6/19/2027
  • Certificate profile (Public Trust): shows a new Active certificate created 10/23/2026, valid until 10/26/2026
  • But the signing service still returns the OLD certificate: Not Before 10/16/2026 7:07:54 AM, Not After 10/19/2026 7:07:54 AM

What I tried:

  • dotnet "sign" tool 0.9.1-beta: "The certificate is expired. Failed to sign. Attempts exceeded."
  • Microsoft's official signtool.exe + Azure.CodeSigning.Dlib (Artifact Signing Client Tools 0.1.128): the server returns status "Failed". Failed operation ID: 957e66c4-9efc-4de2-b38f-9cd42a4d8696 Time: Fri, 23 Oct 2026 17:00:26 GMT
  • Login, endpoint (https://eus.codesigning.azure.net), account and profile names are all correct.

The assistant told me not to delete and recreate the profile. Can someone on the Artifact Signing team refresh the certificate the service uses for my profile?

    Hi R M,

This appears to be a possible backend certificate rotation issue, since your profile shows a new Active certificate while signing still returns the expired one.

Please open an Azure Support ticket for Artifact Signing and request an investigation into certificate selection and the failed operation ID. Include the certificate validity dates and region. Avoid recreating the profile until Microsoft investigates.

Thank you, and feel free to respond back for more assistance.
