Teams meeting captions in the Azure Communication Services Calling SDK: general availability timeline

We are building a Teams meeting assistant on the Azure Communication Services web Calling SDK (@azure/communication-calling 1.46.1). It joins a Teams meeting as an ACS user and uses the Teams captions feature (call.feature(Features.Captions)), which the documentation lists as public preview. The assistant announces itself to attendees in the meeting chat when it joins.

Is Teams captions interoperability in the ACS Calling SDK planned for general availability, and is there a target timeframe or a list of expected changes between preview and GA?

    Hi @Standup Assistant

Good question to ask before you build too much on it. As far as I can find, Microsoft hasn't published a GA date or a preview-to-GA change list for Teams captions interop in the ACS Calling SDK. Roadmap dates for ACS features usually only show up once they ship, so there's nothing official to quote yet.

What I'd do in the meantime:

    1. Watch the ACS "What's new" page and the @azure/communication-calling changelog. Preview-to-GA moves, and any breaking changes, are listed there first.
    2. Keep the captions code behind a small wrapper (start/stop, language set, CaptionsReceived handler). If the API shape changes at GA, you only touch one place.
    3. Pin your SDK version and test each update in a staging meeting before rolling it out, since preview features can change without notice.
    4. Remember preview features fall under the Supplemental Terms for Azure Previews, so no SLA. Worth telling your stakeholders if this is going to production.

If you need a firm date for planning, opening a support request or asking your Microsoft account team is the only route that can get you a non-public answer.

Are you planning to ship this to customers before GA, or is it internal use for now?

If this resolved your question, please consider accepting it as the answer. If you spot a GA announcement or hit a behaviour change, let me know and I'll be happy to keep helping.
