Hi @Habib Ding (Commercial Bank, KMBL)

To ensure I understand the issue correctly, could you confirm whether you are experiencing the same behavior shown below?

    • The selected Office Background (for example, Starts) appears on the File > Office Account page. Screenshot 2026-10-01 at 17.54.43
    • However, the background does not appear in the main Outlook interface (Mail view, Calendar view, compose window, etc.).

If so, I am seeing the same behavior in my test environment, Outlook Version 2609 (Build 20430.20118) Current Channel. The Office Background is visible on the Office Account page, but it is not displayed throughout the main Outlook workspace. Could you please provide the affected build on your side?

Additionally, I have also come across several community discussions and feedback from other Microsoft 365 users reporting the same experience in recent Office builds, where Office Backgrounds are only shown in limited areas of the application interface rather than throughout the workspace. This suggests the behavior may be related to the current product design rather than an issue specific to your environment. And this applies to the other Office apps as well, (Word/Excel/PowerPoint/Outlook/etc.)

I recommend you to submit feedback directly to the product team through the Microsoft Feedback Portal. Customer feedback is reviewed by the engineering team and helps influence future product improvements. You can also upvote for the similar existing feedback:

If the Outlook message background or embedded background image stopped applying after updates in classic Outlook, first determine which symptom matches the issue:

    1. Background or stationery settings are no longer applied to messages
      • In Outlook, go to File > Options > Mail.
      • Open Stationery and Fonts.
      • Check whether a theme or stationery is still selected.
      • If needed, reapply the theme or remove it and apply it again.
      • For individual messages, background changes are supported through message background options such as color, gradients, textures, or pictures.
    2. Images in the message body or signature are not rendering A known issue affected classic Outlook after the May 12, 2026 updates where images in emails, newsletters, or signatures were not displayed.
      • Open the affected email in classic Outlook.
      • On the ribbon, select Move > Actions > Other Actions > View Source.
      • Search for cid inside the src attribute in a v:imagedata tag, for example src=cid:image001.png....
      • If present, the message matches that known issue.
    3. Resolution for the known image/background rendering issue
      • The issue is marked fixed.
      • Install a Microsoft 365 Apps build that contains the fix.
      • If the current update channel does not yet have the fixed build, the fix was expected with the June 9 public updates.
      • Replies or forwards created while the image was missing may permanently lack that image.
    4. If the issue is only on replies or forwards Outlook can remove or replace customized stationery and color backgrounds on replies and forwards. New stationery or themes cannot be applied on replies or forwards, but custom fill effects can be used to approximate stationery effects.
