I changed my method of payment, which now works properly, except the notification that the card is not working continues.

This usually happens because the subscription payment status has been fixed, but Office is still showing a cached billing or license alert.

    Try these steps in order:

    1. Check that the subscription is fully active.
      • Go to Services & subscriptions: https://account.microsoft.com/services
      • Confirm the Microsoft 365 subscription shows Active and there is no past due balance.
      • If a balance is still listed, select Pay now and complete it.
    2. Refresh the Office sign-in state.
      • Open Word or another Office app.
      • Go to File > Account.
      • Sign out of Office.
      • Close the app, restart the device, then sign back in with the same Microsoft account tied to the subscription.
    3. Refresh the license in the app.
      • In Word or Excel, go to File > Account.
      • Select Update License if that option appears.
    4. Allow time for billing status to sync.
      • Payment updates can take up to 24 hours to fully sync across services.
    5. If the notice still appears after the subscription is active and enough time has passed:
      • The app may still be holding a cached billing alert.
      • Sign out and back in again from the Office app, then reopen it.

If the message is “ACCOUNT NOTICE. We've run into a problem with your Microsoft 365 subscription and need your help to fix it.”, it is commonly triggered by a payment problem such as an expired or canceled card. If it is not cleared after payment is fixed, Office can continue showing the warning until the license state refreshes.
