Azure for Students verification fails and I cannot access any support channel

Hello,

I am currently enrolled at a university in Japan and am trying to activate Azure for Students, but I have been unable to complete the academic verification process.

My university-issued Microsoft account works normally with Microsoft 365. However, Azure for Students consistently shows:

“Unable to complete Azure for Students verification.”

I also reproduced the same problem in a fresh Microsoft Edge InPrivate session.

I then tried to contact Microsoft support, but unfortunately both support routes available to me are also blocked:

1. Azure for Education / Engage Center

I can successfully authenticate with my university Microsoft account, but the Engage Center Portal denies access with:

Error Code: 53003

2. Azure Portal Help + Support

My personal Microsoft account can open Azure Portal, but I currently have no Azure subscription and no alternate directory available.

When I try to open Help + Support, Azure Portal returns:

AADSTS16000

The error specifically occurs while accessing Microsoft_Azure_SupportPortalExtension and states that my live.com identity does not exist in the Microsoft Services tenant.

As a result, I seem to be stuck in a loop: Azure for Students cannot be provisioned because verification fails, but I cannot create a normal Azure support request because no Azure subscription has been provisioned.

Could a Microsoft Moderator please help escalate this case to the appropriate Azure for Students / Subscription Management team for manual review or a reset of the verification/provisioning state?

For reference, the failed Azure for Students verification attempt showed:

I can also provide proof of current enrollment, such as my student ID or official enrollment certificate, through a secure/private channel if required.

    Since you have already attempted to contact the available support channels but have not yet been able to move forward, you may want to present the issue to your university IT administrator and ask whether they can investigate from the tenant side.

    As your university account is managed within the school's Microsoft tenant, the IT team may be able to review configurations or restrictions that are not visible from your side.

    Please ask them to verify:

    • Whether your student account is currently active and eligible for Azure for Students.
    • Whether there are any Conditional Access policies or tenant restrictions preventing access to Azure Education services.
    • Whether your academic domain is properly enabled and recognized for Azure for Students.

    When contacting them, I recommend providing the Error Code (53003), the date and time of the failed attempt, the Session ID, and any screenshots or diagnostic information available. This may help them determine whether the issue is related to your account eligibility or a configuration/restriction within the university tenant.

    While working with your IT Admin, you may also suggest that they reach out to Microsoft Engineering for a more in-depth investigation if the issue becomes stuck in a troubleshooting loop and they are unable to provide any further assistance.

    Tips: You can switch off the Support Assistant as shown in the screenshot, then type "Contact Support" into the search box and select "Contact Support" or the "earphone symbol" above..

    Choose "Phone" support and fill all the details of this issue.
