Personal Microsoft account locked out of Azure portal by mandatory MFA — portal requires 6-digit code, Authenticator issues 8-digit code

Good day support,

I cannot sign in to the Azure portal with my personal Microsoft account (an MSA, not a work or school account). The subscription is my own pay-as-you-go subscription and I am the only administrator.

Password authentication succeeds. The Authenticator push approval with number matching also succeeds. After that, the browser still asks me to enter a verification code, but the input field accepts only 6 digits, while Microsoft Authenticator issues an 8-digit code for a personal account. Sign-in therefore fails with error 500121.

I have already: re-registered Microsoft Authenticator for the account, added a separate TOTP registration via "set up a different Authenticator app" (which produces 6-digit codes — also rejected), added email and SMS verification, and saved a recovery code. Signing in at login.live.com works normally; only the Azure portal fails. https://aka.ms/mfasetup and https://mysignins.microsoft.com/security-info both reject the account with "You can't sign in here with a personal account."

The account needs to be added as an external user in the tenant first. Sign out and sign in again with a different Azure Active Directory user account. Could this be escalated to the Data Protection / Tenant Recovery team to reset the MFA configuration on my account? I cannot open an Azure support request because that requires portal access.
