A Microsoft file hosting and synchronization service.
To delete files from online OneDrive storage:
- Go to the OneDrive website and sign in.
- Point to each file or folder to show the circle check box, then select the items to delete.
- Select Delete on the top bar, or right-click the selected item and select Delete.
- To select everything in a folder, click the circle to the left of the header row, or press Ctrl + A.
- To permanently remove deleted items and free storage space, open Recycle bin in the left navigation, select the items, and choose Delete.
Important details:
- Deleted files first go to the Recycle bin.
- Storage availability may not update immediately after deletion; there can be a short delay.
- If a file or folder was shared, deleting it removes it for everyone.
- If Delete is not available, the account may not have permission to delete that item.
- To delete a folder itself, it may be necessary to go up one level and select the whole folder.
If the goal is to keep files on the PC but remove them from OneDrive, move them out of the OneDrive folder on the computer before deleting them online.
