A family of Microsoft spreadsheet software with tools for analyzing, charting, and communicating data.
Try these Excel steps for Stocks data types:
- Refresh the stock cells directly:
- Right-click a cell that contains the Stocks data type.
- Select Data Type > Refresh.
- Refresh the whole workbook:
- Go to Data > Refresh All.
- Or press Ctrl+Alt+F5.
- If Excel shows a question mark instead of the Stocks icon:
- Check the ticker or company name for spelling.
- Press Enter again.
- If needed, click the selector icon and search using a keyword or two, then choose the correct result and select Select.
- If the stock symbol is missing entirely:
- Try the company’s full legal name instead of only the ticker.
- In the selector pane, search by company name and exchange.
- If it still does not appear, use Give feedback in the Data Selector or Help > Feedback in Excel.
- If none of that works:
- There have been cases where the Stocks data type service had temporary server-side problems affecting multiple users.
- For a home Excel setup, submit feedback from Excel with Help > Feedback or Help > Send Feedback > Report a Problem.
Stock information is delayed and provided as-is, so it is not real-time trading data.
