I have moved country/continent and I am not being allowed to change my country/region. Subsequently, I am not able to change my payment method in order to pay my Microsoft annual license.

    Hello Fer Velasco,

I understand that after moving to another country, you cannot update the country/region on your Microsoft account. As a result, you are also unable to add a payment method from your new country and renew your annual Microsoft subscription.

Please try the steps suggested in the AI-generated answer first. If the region remains locked afterward, contact Microsoft Support using the steps below. A support agent can review your account and advise you about the available billing or subscription options. As this is a public user-to-user forum, contributors cannot access your account or change its billing region.

Here's how to reach out to the Support Team (live chat):

    1.  Go to: https://support.microsoft.com/home/contact
    2. In the search box, enter a short description of your issue, then choose "Get Help"
    3. Scroll down and select Sign in to contact support (please sign in using a personal Microsoft account). Then follow the on-screen prompts to reach Support Team. If you are initially directed to an automated assistant, type: I need to speak with a live support agent.

Tip: Support chat availability may vary by country/region, product, and support hours. If you can't get in touch with a chat agent right away, trying again later or at a different time may help.

Hopefully your concerns will soon be addressed. Thank you so much for your patience!

    Best regards.

For a Microsoft 365 personal subscription, the country/region usually can’t be changed while the existing subscription from the old country/region is still active.

    Use this path:

    1. Check whether the current subscription is still active.
      • If it is active and was purchased in the previous country/region, cancel it or wait for it to expire.
      • Microsoft states that a subscription for the new region can’t be purchased until the existing subscription for the old region is gone.
    2. Update the Microsoft account country/region.
      • Go to the Microsoft account Your info page.
      • Select Edit profile info.
      • Change Country or region to the new location.
    3. Update the device/store region if needed.
      • Windows 11: Start > Settings > Time & Language > Language & Region > Country or region.
      • Windows 10: Start > Settings > Time & Language > Region > Country or region.
    4. Add or update the payment method again.
      • The payment country/region and billing details must match the new region.
      • If card payments are declined, verify the card number, expiration date, name, and billing address exactly match the bank record.
    5. If the region still cannot be changed, check these blockers:
      • The country/region was changed within the last three months.
      • The account is suspended, such as an expired card or balance due.
      • The account has an age-related minor/adult restriction between the old and new regions.

    Important:

    • Microsoft recommends changing region only for a long-term move.
    • Apps, games, movies, Xbox subscriptions, and Microsoft account balance may not transfer across regions.
    • Microsoft account funds do not move between regions, so any existing balance should be spent before changing region.

If the issue continues after the old subscription is canceled or expired, use Contact Microsoft Support.
