OneDrive is showing it is actively downloading an 11MB file with (71%) completion. But it never completes. Which file is it and how do I stop this?

    Hi,

As AI answer suggested, please click the cloud icon on the Taskbar to find the sync/download status.

    User's image

If you can't find it, click the gear icon in the same screenshot and select Settings. Then, go to Account and click Unlink this PC.

Press Windows+R keys on the keyboard, or Right-click Start on the Taskbar and choose Run.

    Paste C:\Program Files\Microsoft OneDrive\Onedrive.exe /reset

    Press Enter.

    Sign in again and verify.

I look forward to hearing from you to get the results of the troubleshooting.

To identify and stop the download:

    1. Select the OneDrive icon on the taskbar to open the current sync activity.
    2. Look for the file that is currently downloading.
    3. Select the X next to the file to cancel that download.

If the download is part of general syncing and needs to be stopped temporarily:

    1. Right-click the OneDrive icon on the taskbar.
    2. Select Pause syncing.
    3. Choose 2 / 8 / 24 hours, or select Quit OneDrive.
    4. To restart later, open OneDrive again from the Start menu.

If the stuck item does not show clearly and OneDrive stays on Sync pending:

    1. Open the affected OneDrive folder in File Explorer.
    2. In View, enable Hidden items and check whether a hidden file is causing the pending state.
    3. If no hidden file appears, create a new folder.
    4. Copy all files from the Sync pending folder into the new folder.
    5. Delete the original Sync pending folder.

If the stuck item is a .TMP file, use one of these supported fixes:

    • Upload it manually to onedrive.com
    • Rename it and give it a new extension such as Temp
    • Move it out of the OneDrive folder
    • Delete it

Deleting, moving, or renaming a TMP file can affect the app that created it.

If the OneDrive taskbar icon itself remains stuck on Sync pending, deleting the Office Document Cache may help.
