    Hi @Emily Cook (12VPA)

If this is a school account, I recommend that you contact your organization’s administrator or IT department and ask them to follow this article to reset MFA for you: Manage authentication methods for Microsoft Entra multifactor authentication - Microsoft Entra ID |…. After that, you'll be able to register Microsoft Authenticator again.

If you’re not sure who your organization’s Global Admin is, you can refer to the following article for guidance on how to find them: How do I find my Microsoft 365 admin? - Microsoft Support

For security and management reasons, only your organization’s IT administrators can manage access and MFA settings for work or school accounts. Microsoft Support cannot directly reset MFA for accounts that are managed by an organization.

Once you regain access, it's a good idea to set up an additional sign-in method if your school allows it (such as phone or email), so you’ll have a backup option in case something like this happens again.

    I hope this information helps.

This is a common MFA sign-in loop. If Teams requires Microsoft Authenticator, and Authenticator is the only verification method configured, there may be no self-service way to get back in.

    Try these steps first:

    1. In Teams, select the Sign in prompt again and complete any prompts if a sign-in window appears.
    2. If no sign-in window appears, check the notification area near the clock for a Teams icon with a badge, then select it.
    3. Quit and reopen Teams, then try signing in again.
    4. Make sure the device is connected to the required network for the organization. If a VPN is required, connect to it before opening Teams.
    5. Keep Teams updated by selecting the profile picture in Teams and choosing Check for updates if available.
    6. Check that Microsoft Authenticator is unlocked, notifications are enabled, the app is updated, the device has internet access, and the device date and time are correct.
    7. If Teams still will not reconnect, sign out of Teams if possible, then clear the Teams cache:
      • Windows: Quit Teams, open File Explorer, go to %appdata%\Microsoft\Teams, and delete the folder contents. Then restart Teams.
      • Mac: Quit Teams, delete ~/Library/Application Support/Microsoft/Teams, then restart Teams.

Note: Clearing the Teams cache removes local Teams cache data such as thumbnails, local message history, display images, and add-ons, but does not remove Teams from the device.

If Authenticator still shows nothing and there is no other verification method such as SMS or phone configured, the next step is to contact the school or organization IT admin and ask them to reset MFA or require MFA re-registration. Microsoft support content for Teams sign-in issues states that in many cases only the IT admin or sysadmin can resolve sign-in problems.

If a Teams sign-in error code appears in the lower-left corner of the sign-in window, send that code to the IT admin. It helps diagnose the sign-in failure.
