Copilot is not supported on my 0365 family account in Outlook on my Mac

When I first setup Outlook on my MAC, I was able to go into themes and choose AI assisted themes. This is no longer available and I have noticed, if I go to copilot within outlook settings, it says "Copilot is not supported" for my outlook mail address, which is linked to my 0365 family account. Any suggestions?

Looks like this is a know issue. See the Comment by "Courtney Matthews Sep 6 2026" in https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/answers/questions/5994694/copilot-missing-from-outlook-for-mac-after-softwar

I just finished a chat with support; there is a known issue with entitlement synchronization that the engineers are working to address. Hopefully, we'll have a fix or more information soon.

For Outlook on Mac with a Microsoft 365 Family subscription, these are the supported checks based on the described symptoms:

    1. Confirm the signed-in account is the subscription owner. With Microsoft 365 Family, Copilot access is only available to the person who set up the subscription. Family members using the shared subscription do not get Copilot access.
    2. Check whether Copilot was turned off in Outlook. On Mac, Outlook has a Turn on Copilot toggle in Quick Settings > Copilot. If it is off, Copilot features in Outlook will be unavailable.
    3. Update Outlook for Mac. To see the Turn on Copilot toggle on Mac, Outlook must be updated to at least Version 16.95.3.
    4. Check privacy settings if Copilot still shows as unsupported. Accounts with Connected Experiences turned off in Outlook privacy settings are ineligible for Copilot access or Copilot sharing.
    5. Be aware of Outlook-specific limitations. Copilot scenarios in Outlook are only available on the primary mailbox. They are not available for archive mailboxes, group mailboxes, shared mailboxes, delegate mailboxes, or mailboxes not hosted on Exchange Online.
    6. If the account is the subscription owner and Outlook is updated, Copilot features in Outlook should be available across connected accounts on the same device, including Outlook.com and third-party accounts logged into Outlook on that Mac.

    Also note:

    • AI-assisted themes are a Copilot feature in Outlook.
    • In Outlook, turning Copilot on or off for the same signed-in account applies across devices.
    • This feature is not available in classic Outlook for Windows, but the Mac guidance above applies to Outlook for Mac.
