A Microsoft file hosting and synchronization service.
- Go to the OneDrive website and search there first. That is the best place to look because all synced devices store files there. Use Search everything and search by filename, description, date, or place.
- Check Recycle bin on the left side of the OneDrive website.
- Files deleted from Personal Vault only appear there if Personal Vault is unlocked before checking the recycle bin.
- In the recycle bin, select Show Personal Vault items to unlock the vault and view those deleted items.
- If the command is not shown, Personal Vault is already unlocked.
- If the files were deleted from Personal Vault on a Windows 10 PC, they do not appear in the PC Recycle Bin. If those files had already uploaded to OneDrive, they can still appear in the OneDrive.com recycle bin.
- Check whether the files are in another Microsoft account. If files were saved while signed in with a different account, sign out of OneDrive and sign in again with the other account.
- Search the local device in case the files were saved outside OneDrive or had not synced yet:
- Use File Explorer to search the PC.
- Check the PC Recycle Bin.
- If using a Microsoft 365 subscription, try Restore your OneDrive to roll the OneDrive back to an earlier point within the last 30 days.
- Caution: files and folders created after the restore point are moved to the OneDrive Recycle Bin.
- If the files are not found in search, Personal Vault, or the OneDrive Recycle Bin, they usually cannot be retrieved.
