How do I add an existing PST file to office 21. I tried and while I can read the existing emails, when I hit send/receive all I get is an error of 0x8004010F.

For Classic Outlook in Office 2021, add the existing .pst file as a data file, then fix the profile that is causing 0x8004010F.

    1. In Outlook, go to File > Open & Export > Open Outlook Data File.
    2. Browse to the existing .pst file and open it. It should appear in the Navigation pane.
    3. If the .pst file is on a network drive or other non-local location, move it to a local hard drive first, then add it again. Outlook supports adding .pst files from a local drive as the workaround for this issue.

    For the 0x8004010F send/receive error:

    • This error is associated with a corrupted Outlook profile or Outlook losing the path to the data file.
    • The supported fix is to create a new Outlook profile and set it as the default.

    Steps:

    1. Close Outlook.
    2. Open Control Panel > Mail > Show Profiles.
    3. Select Add and create a new profile.
    4. Set up the email account in the new profile.
    5. On the General tab in Mail, select Always use this profile and choose the new profile.
    6. Start Outlook.
    7. If historical mail is still needed, add the old .pst again using File > Open > Open Outlook Data File.

If the account setup asks for a data file during profile creation, select Existing Outlook Data File, browse to the .pst, and complete Test Account Settings.

    Expected result:

    • The mailbox sends and receives through the new profile.
    • The old .pst remains available for reading or moving older mail.

    Dear NoRange M3,

Based on the error code 0x8004010F, Outlook is most likely unable to access its default data file, or the Outlook profile has become corrupted. The most effective resolution is to create a new Outlook profile and then reattach your existing PST file.

I can see that the AI assistant has already provided some helpful recommendations. Therefore, please follow the steps below:

    1. Close Outlook completely.
    2. Open Control Panel > User Accounts > select Mail (Microsoft Outlook).
    3. Select Add, enter a name for the new profile, and click OK.
    4. Configure your email account using the on-screen prompts.
    5. Once the account setup is complete, select Always use this profile and choose the newly created profile.
    6. Launch Outlook and confirm that you can successfully send and receive email.
    7. After verifying mail flow is working, go to File > Open & Export > Open Outlook Data File and browse to your existing PST file to reconnect your historical email data.

    Untitled

If the Send/Receive process works correctly in the new profile, this confirms the issue was related to the previous Outlook profile configuration rather than the PST file itself.

Please don’t hesitate to get in contact if the above suggestions still didn't work. I will be more than happy to assist you further.

Thank you very much for your valuable time and your cooperation.
