Urgent Support Request – Unable to Sign in to Microsoft Teams / Account Not Found

Hello Microsoft Teams Support,

I am experiencing an issue signing in to Microsoft Teams with the following account:

Username: [Moderator note: Personally Identifiable Information removed]@tekyeduvn.onmicrosoft.com

When I try to sign in, I receive the following error message:

“The email or username you entered does not exist. Please check that you have typed your email or username correctly.”

The account was previously working normally, but I am currently unable to sign in. The error appears during the account identification/sign-in process, before I can access Microsoft Teams.

Could you please help investigate the following:

Whether the account [Moderator note: Personally Identifiable Information removed]@tekyeduvn.onmicrosoft.com still exists and is active in Microsoft Entra ID / Microsoft 365.

Whether the account is correctly associated with the tekyeduvn.onmicrosoft.com tenant.

Whether there are currently any authentication, Entra ID, Teams, or Microsoft 365 service incidents affecting sign-in.

Whether there have been any recent changes to authentication, account discovery, or tenant routing that could cause this error.

Whether there is anything that needs to be restored or reconfigured on the Microsoft side.

This issue is particularly concerning because the account was previously usable, but Microsoft now reports that the username does not exist.

Please investigate the account and tenant from your side and let me know what you find.

Thank you for your assistance.

Best regards, [Moderator note: Personally Identifiable Information removed]

Dear Teky Steam Academy,

Since all users, including administrator accounts, are unable to access Microsoft 365 services, the immediate priority is to regain administrator access first. Without an active Global Administrator account, you won't be able to access the Microsoft 365 Admin Center, review Service Health, check user accounts, or investigate tenant-level configuration issues.

If all administrator accounts are locked out, you may need to go through Microsoft's account recovery process or contact Microsoft Support directly, as only they can verify ownership of the tenant and restore administrative access.

As a forum member like you, I do not have access to internal Microsoft systems or any special escalation channels. The suggestions I provided are based on what I have observed from many similar cases I have seen in the forum community.

If you have administrative access to another Microsoft 365 tenant, or know an administrator from another tenant, you can ask them to create a Microsoft Support ticket on behalf of your locked tenant through the Microsoft 365 Admin Center. When opening the case, make sure they provide the affected tenant name and explain that all users, including administrator accounts, are unable to access Microsoft 365 services. For reference:  Get support | Microsoft Docs

Microsoft Support can then investigate the tenant status and advise on the appropriate recovery steps to restore administrator access.

Otherwise, here are some options I recommend you look through and try:

Option 1: Try to contact Microsoft Data Protection Support by phone (Primary Method)

The most direct method is to call Microsoft's support line to raise a request to reset your authentication method and regain access to your account. For a full list of regional numbers, you can also visit this official page: Customer service phone numbers - Microsoft Support. The support team will assist you as soon as possible. For reference:  Get support | Microsoft Docs

Note: You may also consider calling a Microsoft support number for a different region if support in your local region is unavailable or unable to route your case appropriately.

(While calling, you may hear an introduction of about 30 seconds, such as "you can visit the link...". You can ignore it and wait until you are presented with the options. Then press "1" as a business email user, and again "1" for technical help.)

Here are some tips and an example of a prompt to help you navigate the IVR more effectively:

In some countries, it is an automated conversation like this: First, when you call the hotline, you will be asked as follows:

IVR: What kind of problem are you concerned about?

You: Authenticator.

IVR: What kind of product do you use?

You: Office 365 for business.

IVR confirmation: education or company account?

You: For companies

IVR: Are you an administrator?

You: Yes.

IVR: Do you have the other administrator in your organization?

You: No.

IVR: Do you need a... Service request?

You: Yes

This process should connect you with a live agent who will create a service request with the Data Protection team. They will then contact you to help you regain access.

Option 2: Create a Temporary Account (Trial Tenant) to Submit a Support Ticket (Alternative Method)

If the automated phone system does not get you to a human agent, one workaround is to create a separate trial Microsoft 365 tenant and use that tenant to open a support ticket on behalf of the locked tenant.

  • Sign up for a new Microsoft 365 Business trial using this link: Compare All Microsoft 365 Plans. You will need to use a different, personal email address to register.
  • Once the trial account is created, log in to its Admin Center > From the Admin Center, open a new Service Request. For reference:  Get support | Microsoft Docs
  • In the ticket description, explain that you are locked out of your primary tenant (your.onmicrosoft.com) and that you need to speak with the Data Protection team to regain access.
  • Remember to provide your locked account's details and a good contact number for them to reach you.

Important:

- Please remember to cancel the trial subscription after your original account issue is resolved to avoid any future charges.

- When creating the support request, I also recommend disabling or bypassing the AI/Support Assistant option if presented and choosing the path that allows you to contact a support engineer directly.

If you have any questions or are stuck on any steps, please feel free to reach out. I'm looking forward to your update.

    Thank you for your response.

I am the Microsoft 365 administrator for the tekyeduvn.onmicrosoft.com tenant.

To clarify, this is not a single-user issue. All users in our tenant are currently unable to access Microsoft 365/Teams, including our administrator accounts.

We also tested another company's tenant, and they can access Microsoft services normally. This suggests the issue may be specific to our tenant.

    Thank you.

    Dear Teky Steam Academy,

Unfortunately, as this is a community forum member, no one has access to your Microsoft 365 tenant, Microsoft Entra ID directory, or Microsoft's internal systems. Therefore, I cannot investigate whether the account still exists, verify its status in the tenant, review backend authentication logs, or determine whether any account restoration is required on Microsoft's side.

To help narrow down the issue, could you please provide some additional information?

    • Are you an end user or a Microsoft 365 administrator for the tekyeduvn.onmicrosoft.com tenant?
    • Can any other users in the same tenant successfully sign in to Microsoft Teams and Microsoft 365 services?
    • If you are an administrator, can you check whether the affected account still appears in Microsoft Entra admin center under Users > All users? If you are an end user, please reach out to your IT Admin: How do I find my Microsoft 365 admin?
    • Was the account recently renamed, deleted, restored, or had its sign-in name (UPN) changed?
    • Have you tried signing in using another browser, an InPrivate/Incognito session, or a different device/network?

If you have any questions or if I have misunderstood anything, please feel free to reach out. I'm looking forward to your update.
