    Hello @Jim Mullins

Thank you for your reaching out to Microsoft Q&A Support team,

When an Azure account shows no subscriptions, the subscription generating the charge is typically located under a different directory (tenant) or a different Microsoft account. Recurring charges originate from either an active subscription or a support plan, so the first step is to identify the source.
    Please check the following:

    1. In the Azure portal, select your profile icon and use Switch directory to check for other directories linked to your account.
    2. Under Subscriptions, filter to show All subscriptions, including disabled and expired, and ensure the "My role" filter is not restricting the view.
    3. Review account.microsoft.com/billing/orders for any recurring services.
    4. Verify whether the charge relates to an Azure support plan, as these bill monthly and are separate from subscriptions.

    To cancel:

    • Subscriptions can be cancelled under Subscriptions > Cancel subscription (Account Administrator access required).
    • Support plans can be cancelled under Help + support > Support plans.
    • Once all services are cancelled and the final invoice is settled, the payment method can be removed under Cost Management + Billing > Payment methods

If no subscription or billing profile is visible:

The charge will need to be traced directly by Microsoft Billing Support. Please provide the email address receiving the invoices, the invoice number and date for the most recent charge, and a screenshot showing that no subscriptions are listed.

As the Azure portal requires an accessible subscription to raise a billing request, you may also contact Microsoft Billing Support directly at https://support.microsoft.com/contactus and select billing as the topic.

I think Azure only bills when something billable stays in your billing scope, so £90.71 means one entry is still active. Check Cost Management → Billing scopes → Products + services / Invoices and stop anything you’re not using. If nothing shows up, use the Support link on that page and ask Billing to identify the charge, as some billing account types use a different view.

If there are no active subscriptions, the Azure account itself is not automatically deleted. The supported path is:

    1. Confirm there are no active subscriptions in Azure portal > Subscriptions.
    2. If any subscription was recently canceled, wait for the billing cycle to close. After the final subscription is canceled, Azure closes the current billing cycle within 72 hours, and the final invoice can arrive up to three days later.
    3. Check for pending charges in Azure portal > Cost Management + Billing > Billing scopes > select the billing account > Billing > Invoices. If any invoice shows Due on date, the payment method cannot be detached until those charges are paid.
    4. If recurring charges still exist, go to Cost Management + Billing > Billing scopes > select the billing account > Products + services > Recurring charges, then cancel each recurring charge.
    5. After all recurring charges are removed and all pending charges are paid, delete the payment method:
      • For a Microsoft Customer Agreement billing account: Cost Management + Billing > select billing scope if needed > Billing profiles > select the profile > Payment methods > select the ellipsis (...) next to the card > Delete.
      • If the payment method is still in use, it must be replaced or detached before deletion.
    6. To make the Azure account inoperable, cancel and delete all Azure subscriptions, then remove the credit card from the account. This does not delete the account itself.
    7. If the account is a personal Microsoft account and it is not used for anything else, deleting the associated Microsoft account is the additional step mentioned for fully removing it.

    Important details:

    • Azure never automatically deletes the Azure account.
    • Billing stops immediately after subscription cancellation, but the portal can take up to 10 minutes to reflect the cancellation.
    • Data is not deleted immediately after cancellation; Microsoft can retain it for 30 to 90 days in case reactivation is needed.
    • If charges continue even though there are no subscriptions visible, create a billing support request in the Azure portal.
