Sending, receiving, and organizing email in Outlook on the web for business
Hi Dave,
I’m sorry to hear that the emails in your Outlook Inbox suddenly went missing.
To locate and recover the missing messages, here are some steps you can try:
1/ Check the Inbox filter
- Open your Inbox.
- Select Filter above the message list.
- Set the filter to All and clear any search terms that may be applied.
-
Also, if Focused Inbox is enabled, review both the Focused and Other tabs.
2/ Check other folders
- Review the Deleted Items, Archive, and Junk Email folders.
- You may also use the search bar at the top of Outlook to search for a known sender or subject from one of the missing messages.
3/ Recover deleted items
- Open Deleted Items.
- Select Recover items deleted from this folder.
-
- If the missing messages appear, select them and choose Restore.
4/ Review mailbox rules
- Go to Settings > Mail > Rules.
- Check whether any rule may have moved or deleted messages unexpectedly.
-
- Disable or correct any rule that you do not recognize or that is not working as intended.
If the issue persists, please provide the following information so I can better assist you:
- Are all Inbox messages missing, or only messages from a particular date range?
- Can you still find the missing messages by using the Outlook search bar?
- Are the emails also missing when you access the mailbox from another browser, a private browsing window, or the Outlook application?
- Did you notice any unexpected mailbox rules, forwarding settings, or unfamiliar sign-in activity?
I hope this information is helpful. Should you have any further questions or need additional assistance, please feel free to share them in the comment below. I'm very happy to help.
I'm looking forward to hearing your thoughts.
