Processes in Microsoft 365 for setting up Office apps, redeeming product keys, and activating licenses.
To install Excel add-ins from the internet, check these Office settings first:
- In Excel, go to File > Get Add-ins or Home > Add-ins.
- If add-ins do not appear, go to File > Options > Trust Center > Trust Center Settings > Add-ins.
- Review the add-in security options:
- Disable all Application Add-ins (may impair functionality) must be unchecked.
- If Require Application Add-ins to be signed by Trusted Publisher is enabled, unsigned add-ins will not load.
- Restart Excel after changing add-in security settings, because these settings take effect only after exit and restart.
For Office Add-ins management:
- Go to File > Get Add-ins > More Add-ins.
- Open the My Add-ins tab.
- If add-ins are missing, select Refresh.
- Use Manage My Add-in or Upload if adding an add-in from the device.
If Excel shows that no add-ins are available and mentions privacy settings for optional connected experiences, that points to an Office connectivity or policy restriction rather than a documented registry value in the available guidance.
If the Get Add-ins feature is blocked or unavailable in the organization, the documented path is to have the Microsoft 365 administrator review whether policy is blocking add-ins and, if needed, open a support ticket through the Microsoft 365 admin center.
