Microsoft 365 features that help users manage their subscriptions, account settings, and billing information.
For a Microsoft 365 business subscription, tax-exempt status is established by submitting a service request and providing the tax-exempt documentation.
Steps:
- Sign in to the Microsoft 365 admin center with an admin account.
- Open Get support / create a support request for billing.
- Submit the request to establish tax-exempt status for the organization.
- Attach the Ohio state tax-exempt document when requested.
Supported documentation for the United States is a Sales Tax Exemption Certificate.
If the organization is not using Microsoft 365 admin billing and the billing is under an MCA billing account in Azure, the request is submitted in the Azure portal instead:
- Sign in to Azure Portal.
- Go to Help + Support.
- Select Create a support request.
- Use:
- Issue type:
Billing - Problem type:
Add or Update VAT, tax id, PO Number or Profile Information
- Issue type:
- Attach the tax exemption certificate and include billing account details.
For MCA billing accounts, the request must be submitted by the Billing Account Owner or a user with administrative access to the billing account.
