Planner Tasks are not updating

After creating new tasks, we are noticing that tasks are not being updated to all users.

A task was assigned to me, I tagged another user in the task, and they did not receive the notification even though others did. The most worrying this is that the update to the task does not reflect AT ALL to other users. Attached is a screenshot wherein I updated the task and after it was complete a user added a note. You can see the note clearly see on his screenshot yet even after multiple hard refreshes the message did not appear on my screenshot.

    Hi Yaniv,

Since the task update is visible to one user but does not appear for another even after several refreshes, this may indicate a synchronization issue rather than a notification setting alone.

    Please try the following:

    1. Open the same plan directly in Planner for the web at https://planner.cloud.microsoft and check whether the update appears there.
    2. Test in an InPrivate or Incognito browser window to rule out cached data or browser extensions.
    3. If you normally access Planner through Teams, compare the task in both the Teams Planner app and Planner for the web.
    4. Confirm that all affected users are signed in with the correct work account and still have access to the same plan.
    5. Ask another plan member to add a new test message and explicitly@mention the affected user.

In the new Planner task chat, users are notified only when they are explicitly mentioned. Mentioned users should receive an email and a Teams notification, provided they have access to the task.

Additional, please refer to the following link:

I also recommend asking your IT administrator to check Microsoft Admin Center > Health > Service health for any Planner-related incident. If no incident is listed and the updates remain inconsistent, the administrator should report the issue or open a Microsoft 365 support request for backend investigation. For more information, please visit: How to check Microsoft 365 service health

If possible, please share whether the issue occurs in Planner for the web and whether it affects one plan or multiple plans. I hope this helps narrow down the cause.

    Kind regards,
