Expired Microsoft 365 Developer Program sandbox reattached after profile deletion

Hello, I previously had a Microsoft 365 Developer Program E5 sandbox (xc0y5.onmicrosoft.com) which expired on July 12, 2025 and was deleted in September 2025. After deleting my profile and rejoining the program, my dashboard still shows the same expired subscription instead of provisioning a new instant sandbox.

Could you please advise how I can reset my developer subscription or get a new E5 tenant provisioned?

Thank you, Ali

    Hi @Ali Gohar

To give you some background, when an E5 sandbox subscription expires and undergoes hard deletion, the tenant metadata can sometimes remain linked to your account profile on the backend. Deleting and rejoining the program with the same account often restores the cached profile state rather than triggering a fresh provisioning workflow.

Additionally, please keep in mind that Microsoft has recently tightened the eligibility requirements for the Microsoft 365 Developer Program. Instant E5 sandboxes are currently restricted to active Visual Studio Enterprise/Professionalsubscribers or verified Microsoft Cloud Partners.

At this time, please refer to use an Alternate Microsoft Account (MSA). If you meet the current program eligibility criteria, the fastest workaround is to sign up for the Developer Program using a clean, alternative Microsoft account (or Work/School account) that has never been linked to an M365 tenant.

If you want to reset the subscription, you can contact Microsoft through Contact Us - Developer Supportand ask them to verify your Developer Program account’s eligibility and subscription provisioning status.

Please note that this is a paid support ticket, which means it requires an active support plan or a one-time support purchase. However, the benefit of using this channel is that your inquiry will be routed directly to the Microsoft Product Group responsible for the specific service or feature in question. This team includes engineers and developers who work on the product itself, so they are best positioned to provide accurate, in-depth, and authoritative answers especially for complex or edge-case scenarios that go beyond publicly available documentation or community knowledge.

I hope this helps point you in the right direction! Let me know if you have any questions regarding eligibility or subscription linking.
