Bitlocker recovery

The recovery key is not always stored only in the Microsoft account used to install Windows.

Please note the recovery key ID shown on the BitLocker screen, then check:

• Every personal Microsoft account previously used on the device: View BitLocker recovery keys
• Any work or school account connected to the device
• The account of anyone else who originally configured the device
• Any printed copy or USB drive where the key may have been saved

If the recovery key cannot be found in any of these locations, Microsoft Support cannot retrieve, recreate, or bypass it. Unfortunately, the encrypted data cannot be accessed without the key.

A BitLocker recovery key cannot be received or requested via email. It is automatically stored in the Microsoft account that was used to install Windows. If you cannot sign in to that Microsoft account, and you did not make a backup copy of the recovery key, I'm sorry to say that there is no other way to retrieve the recovery key and there isn't anything that Microsoft can do to help.
