Using Outlook for Android for personal email and calendar management
If the message is legitimate, OneDrive files are erased only for these reasons:
- The account has not been used for two years.
- The storage limit has been exceeded.
To stop files from being erased, sign in and reactivate the account before the date shown in the notification, then check that storage is not full.
For Outlook.com mail, if Microsoft cloud storage is full, email cannot be sent or received, and messages sent during that time are bounced back and unrecoverable. Check mailbox storage and account sign-in status.
If the email is telling Hotmail/Outlook.com to be “updated” or it will be deleted tomorrow, that matches common phishing/scam behavior described in the support discussions. Do not click links in that email, do not reply, and do not download attachments. Instead:
- Go directly to Outlook.com or the Microsoft account sign-in page and sign in there.
- Check whether the account signs in normally.
- Check whether OneDrive storage is over the limit.
- If sign-in fails, use the Microsoft account sign-in helper.
- If support is needed, use Help in Outlook.com or Contact Microsoft Support.
If the account is active and storage is not over the limit, the email can be ignored or moved to Junk.
