Using Outlook for Android for personal email and calendar management
If the account is active and the password change succeeded, this can be either a sign-in/authentication issue on the devices or a temporary Outlook.com service issue.
Try these checks in order:
- Check Outlook.com service status. If the status is not green, wait and try again later.
- If the account may be temporarily blocked because of unusual sign-in activity, use the Sign-in Helper to unblock or diagnose the account.
- If the problem is on iPhone or iPad using the default Mail app, re-enter the password:
- Open Settings.
- Tap Mail.
- Tap Accounts.
- Select the Outlook account.
- Tap Account Settings or the Password field.
- Enter the updated password.
- Tap Done.
- Open Mail and confirm it syncs.
- If one device still cannot send or receive mail while others can, removing the partnership between that mobile device and the mailbox can fix sync issues.
- If the account still cannot sign in, use the Microsoft account Sign-in Helper. If the password is correct but sign-in still fails, recover the account and reset the password again if prompted.
Relevant sign-in guidance:
- Hotmail is now Outlook.com, and the same Microsoft account username and password are used.
- If access stopped suddenly across multiple devices on the same day, a temporary service degradation is also possible.
