For a Mac Mail sign-in failure after removing Outlook and seeing comapple.accounts error1, the supported fixes are:

    1. Remove the account from Apple Mail or System Settings > Internet Accounts.
    2. Open Keychain Access and delete saved entries related to the mailbox. Search for terms such as Outlook, Microsoft, Exchange, and the mailbox address.
    3. Restart the Mac.
    4. Add the account again from Mail > Add Account or System Settings > Internet Accounts > Add Account.
    5. When adding it back, use Outlook.com if available, or Microsoft Exchange. Avoid adding it as Other Mail Account/IMAP unless necessary.

If the account still will not add in Apple Mail, use Outlook on the web or Outlook for Mac as a workaround while retrying the account setup.

If the issue is in Outlook for Mac itself and the message says the account cannot be added because the license does not enable access, install 16.81.2 or later.
