Microsoft 365 features that help users manage their subscriptions, account settings, and billing information.
Yes. A refund may be available, but it depends on what those two charges actually are and whether the subscription qualifies during cancellation.
Recommended steps:
- Check whether the two charges are truly duplicates.
- Open order history and look for two purchases for the same product and amount that appeared close together.
- If only one charge appears in Microsoft order history, another Microsoft account in the household may be using the same card.
- Check Services & subscriptions.
- Go to https://account.microsoft.com/services
- Sign in with the Microsoft account used for the purchase.
- Look for duplicate Microsoft 365 subscriptions or overlapping plans.
- Cancel the extra subscription.
- Select Manage next to the subscription.
- Select Cancel or Upgrade or Cancel.
- Follow the prompts.
- If Turn on recurring billing appears instead of Manage, that subscription is already set to expire and will not renew.
- During cancellation, check whether a refund is offered.
- Refund eligibility is determined automatically during the cancellation flow.
- Not all cancellations result in a refund.
- If the charge is unfamiliar rather than a duplicate, investigate it.
- Use the Manage your payments page and select Investigate.
Important refund rules:
- In most cases, a refund may be available within 30 days of the initial purchase or before the first recurring billing date, whichever is sooner, by canceling the subscription.
- A refund of the most recent recurring billing charge may also be available if cancellation happens within 30 days after payment. This is limited to one time per Microsoft account, per subscription product.
- If the subscription was bought through Google Play or the Apple App Store, cancellation and refund must be requested through that store, not Microsoft.
If the cancel option is missing:
- Confirm the subscription was purchased directly from Microsoft and not from a third-party retailer or app store.
- Make sure the correct Microsoft personal account is signed in.
- If there is an overdue balance, it must be paid before cancellation is available.
