A Microsoft file hosting and synchronization service.
For a OneDrive sign-in loop on Windows, use this order:
- Verify the account can sign in outside the app.
- Sign in to the Microsoft Account dashboard.
- If sign-in fails there, fix the account sign-in issue first.
- Make sure OneDrive is up to date.
- Install the latest OneDrive build from the official download page.
- Restart OneDrive.
- Open Start and search for OneDrive.
- Launch it again and try signing in.
- Clear cached OneDrive sign-in data on Windows.
- Press Windows key + R.
- Enter:
%localappdata%\Microsoft\OneDrive\settings - Select OK.
- Delete PreSignInSettingsConfig.json.
- Start OneDrive and try signing in again.
- If the loop continues, uninstall and reinstall OneDrive.
- This is a safe step for synced files: uninstalling OneDrive does not delete files or data, and files remain accessible through OneDrive on the web.
- Check network blockers.
- If sign-in still hangs, the issue may be caused by a firewall, VPN configuration, or the internet provider blocking access to Microsoft 365 services.
- If possible, test on a different network such as a mobile hotspot.
- If this is a work or school account and the issue continues, contact the organization’s IT helpdesk or admin.
If the app is showing a gray OneDrive icon with a line through it, that indicates OneDrive is not signed in.
