OneNote for Android login to sync is failing

I am logged into M365 apps as I can see my initials in the profile circle and the details if I click on it. I can see my notebooks if I click on them. But on the home page where Recents are normally shown, it says I need to login to sync. If I try it fails with the message below. This happens on my Galaxy S25 Ultra and my Note20 Ultra.

Yes, I tried all of those as well. I even uninstalled and re-installed, cleared data as well as the cache. Since it also happens on two different Galaxy devices that both still worked, I assume it's some type of bug that was introduced by a recent update. PlayStore says the app was updated on Aug 20th so once my phone auto-updated it that is when it started.

Same experience with my S24+. The recommended solution doesn't work. The OneNote files are accessible via Windows, but Android app doesn't work.

I have the same "Working Offline" message on my Android device (not a Samsung, for what it's worth) and also get the same login error message. But when I go to OneNotes on my laptop, any new changes I've made on my phone as recently as yesterday ARE synced so all seems well despite the error messages. At this point I'm not going to worry about it and hope that it was just a glitch in the latest OneNOtes Android update and gets fixed soon. I'm curious whether others find their Android changes are also syncing despite the warning message that they are not.

In all fairness, I don't know if all my notes are 'sticky notes' or whatever the other type are ('normal notes'?) - so maybe that's why my notes are still syncing. Still, I'd think that if I'm supposedly 'offline' that NO notes would sync.

Mine also sync most of the time which is why the offline message is so odd and then the error. I have one notebook and all of the notes are under Quick Notes. I am not sure what Sticky Notes really are since they don't work anyway.

I had been seeing once in a while where notes I update often was saying there were conflicts when I only ever update them on this mobile instance. I only use the PC version when there are conflicts because you cannot resolve or delete the pages in conflict on the mobile version.

I've been getting the same login issue on my Samsung Galaxy S20 FE when launching sticky notes within OneNote. Error code is 9hehw. It's been happening to me since 8/29/2026 and I have not seen any acknowledgement from Microsoft on a fix.

Same issue here on Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra. OneNote for Android fails to sign in/sync with: “Something went wrong. [9hehw]” Initial detailed error also showed: “Access denied for the resource.” Correlation Id: 11306154-10ad-cb48-8a30-4314a7468ffc Timestamp: 2026-09-01T11:52:24.000Z What works: - OneNote Web works on the same phone in Samsung Internet - OneNote Web works inside Samsung Secure Folder - login.live.com works in Chrome incognito - OneDrive Web works - OneNote works on PC Already tried: - Cleared OneNote cache/data - Reinstalled OneNote - Removed Microsoft accounts from the phone - Disabled Link to Windows - Tested in Samsung Secure Folder - Cleaned up misplaced sections - Closed/reopened notebooks This appears isolated to the OneNote Android app, not the Microsoft account or notebooks.

Did all of that fix the issue on your phone? I have tried everything except removing all the MS accounts as that would be more work to recover that this issue is worth since I can still get to my notebooks using OneNote Android. I have a work account and a personal account both in the personal profile.
