Using Outlook for Android for personal email and calendar management
Hi Kristie Forsberg,
I understand that you want to keep the main Contacts folder synchronized while preventing the three older contact folders from appearing on the Android phone.
Please note that this is a user-to-user forum, so contributors cannot access your account or change its synchronization settings directly.
The main point in the Q&A Assist answer is correct. Have you had a chance to review it? Outlook for Android provides Sync Contacts for the account, but the available documentation does not show an option for selecting or excluding individual contact folders. How Outlook syncs contacts on Android
I would like to add that clearing Show this folder as an email Address Book does not control synchronization with Android. That option only affects whether the folder appears in the desktop Outlook Address Book.
Since synchronization is already working, resetting or re-adding the account is unlikely to help with folder selection. If the older contacts must remain excluded from the phone, the practical alternative is to export a backup and store them outside the server-based mailbox, for example in a local Outlook Data File in classic Outlook for Windows. Please be aware that locally stored contacts will not synchronize to Outlook.com or other devices.
I hope this clarifies why the Address Book setting did not change what appears on the phone.
