Good morning,

I would like to ask a question regarding the behavior of the Custom Panel that opens when the “Room controls” button is pressed.

By default, MTR closes this panel after 60 seconds of inactivity, i.e. after the user has not touched the panel for 60 seconds.

Is it possible to modify this behavior, for example by using an XML configuration script? On my Custom Panel, I have a dedicated button that closes the Custom Panel and therefore displays the MTR Panel as well.

The user would like the following behavior:

  1. When a video conference is not active:

The Custom Panel is always displayed on top, and the dedicated button can be used to switch to the MTR Panel.

When the MTR Panel is active and no one interacts with it for 60 seconds, the Custom Panel should automatically open again.

  1. When a video conference is active:

The MTR Panel is always displayed on top, and the dedicated button can be used to switch to the Custom Panel (i.e. the way Teams works by default).

The 60-second timeout for switching back to the Custom Panel should not apply.

    Based on the scenario described, the requirement is to keep the Custom Panel as the primary interface when no meeting is in progress and automatically return to that panel after inactivity, while preserving the standard Microsoft Teams Rooms experience during active meetings.

    Based on the Microsoft Teams Rooms documentation currently available, I was unable to identify any documented or supported setting, XML configuration, or Teams Rooms policy that allows administrators to:

    • Change the 60-second inactivity behavior of the Room Controls / Custom Panel experience.
    • Automatically reopen a Custom Panel after the Teams Rooms interface has been displayed.
    • Apply different Room Controls timeout behavior depending on whether a meeting is active or not.
