How to add my mobile phone number to my account for sign-in security notifications approvals?

For my verification methods on security Microsoft sign in , I had an option for mobile number text notifications. I accidentally deleted my phone number from my account and now it doesn't give me that option nor does it allow me to add a phone number how can I fix this?

For personal Microsoft accounts, Microsoft now says you can no longer add a phone number as a new security method. Their current support article states: “For increased security, you can no longer add a phone number” when adding a new way to verify sign-in.

See the first and last items in the gray text box.

You will have to use the other options like email, authenticator and passkey.
