Hello,

I presently work at a university and we utilize MS Whiteboard in our remote interactive classroom settings. The student participants join a session and the instructor(host) works the classroom as if the students were physically there. Participants and the instructor share their content AND the instructor will utilize a whiteboard, in this case the Microsoft version of the Whiteboard as we have found this works the best to provide saving of content to the cloud(OneDrive),AND several other features like sizing the screen bigger or smaller. Will the Whiteboard still be available to education after the September 14 date AND if not what are the recommended options for universities...Thank you!

    Hi Ken,

Thank you for reaching out and sharing your concerns.

Based on your description, it appears that your university is already using the OneDrive-based version of Microsoft Whiteboard, since you mentioned that Whiteboard content is saved to OneDrive.

Microsoft Whiteboard is expected to remain available to your organization after September 14, 2026. The change announced for that date applies to the standalone Microsoft Whiteboard desktop and mobile applications, not to the Whiteboard service for users with organizational work or school accounts. After that date, instructors and students should access Whiteboard primarily through Microsoft Teams.

To confirm your university’s configuration and ensure that any existing legacy whiteboards are properly migrated, please contact your organization’s Microsoft 365 administrator and ask them to review the following Microsoft Message Center advisory: Microsoft 365 Message Center advisory MC1441775

I hope this information is helpful. Should you have any further questions, please feel free to reach out. I'll be happy to help.
