Email Signatures Not Working on Replies

I use a Macbook with Outlook installed. I have had no issues before yesterday. Signatures on reply emails are now put at the very bottom of the chain rather than where you type a reply. It is doing this on all four accounts I use in Outlook.

I deleted the signatures and changed the rules to none for new and reply and restarted the computer. I added the signatures back and nothing has changed.

I can confirm that BC is not the only user experiencing this issue.

I am currently having exactly the same problem with Outlook for Mac, version 16.112.1 (26081720).

When replying to an email, the signature is incorrectly inserted below the original message header (From / Date / To / Subject) instead of directly below the new reply. The same thing happens even when I try to insert the signature manually.

The issue appeared suddenly and, at the same time, Outlook has also become very unstable: it frequently freezes, I sometimes have to force quit and restart the application, and even simple actions such as deleting drafts can fail.

This therefore seems to be an Outlook for Mac client issue rather than an individual signature configuration problem.

It would be helpful if Microsoft could investigate this as a possible regression in the current Outlook version.

    Hi BC,

Since the behavior started suddenly and is affecting all four accounts, it may be worth checking whether the issue is specific to the current Outlook experience rather than the individual signature settings themselves. The thread indicates that recreating signatures did not change the result.

As a quick test, please try:

    • In Outlook for Mac, switch between New Outlook and Legacy Outlook (if the option is available).
    • Send yourself a test message and reply to it.
    • Check whether the signature is inserted correctly in both experiences.

If the signature is positioned correctly in one mode but not the other, that helps narrow the issue to the Outlook client behavior and may provide a practical workaround while continuing to use Outlook normally.

I hope this helps point you in the right direction. Let me know if you need further assistance, feel free to ask me by clicking "Add Comment" or "Add Answer" if you cannot add comment so your response will be visible. Thanks for your effort.
