autocorrect incorrectly adds apostrophe to any words that start with 'im'

When composing an email, any word that starts with "im" is autocorrected to "I'm" before I finish typing it. For example, while typing "impressive", the autocapitalization & apostrophe are added before I've gotten halfway through. I have turned off predictive text but don't want to have to entirely disable autocorrect, which seems to be the only fix. Is there no other work around for this frustrating feature?

In Outlook on the web, a targeted workaround is available without turning off all AutoCorrect.

    While composing a message:

    1. Expand the compose toolbar if needed.
    2. Select Message.
    3. Select Editor on the right side.
    4. Open Editor Settings.
    5. Turn off Enable Auto Capitalization.

That setting is available only while composing or replying to a message, not while just viewing mail.

If the unwanted change is specifically converting im to I'm, Outlook on the web does not have a documented way here to remove a single AutoCorrect entry from the web experience. The documented web limitation is that Outlook for the web supports AutoCorrect, but words cannot be added to or removed from the AutoCorrect list there.

If a custom AutoCorrect entry needs to be changed, open the message in the desktop app and manage AutoCorrect there instead.

    Hi J A,

For your concern, you can try following the forum's AI suggestion as it does provide the correct approach because this issue is usually caused by Outlook Auto Capitalization. To disable Auto Capitalization in Outlook on the web:

    • When composing a new email, you will see a toolbar including File, Home, View, etc.
    • Select the Options tab > Editor > Editor Settings > toggle off the Auto Capitalization option

    User's image

You can give it a try and let me know if it works. If the issue still persists, please feel free to reach out again in the comments of this post. I'm happy to assist you further.

Thank you for your patience and understanding. Hope to hear from you soon.
