In Word and Excel for iPadOS, the Recent Files in List View displays a bare integer where the relative time label should appear. A file shows 0 immediately after being opened, increments through several intervals over the course of the same day, and continues to increment beyond one day. Any older files opened since the update are rendered as bare integers.
Initially attributed this to iPad's battery dying with a workbook open. A second iPad developed the identical symptom independently, with no battery event or crash of any kind.. The onset on both devices tracks with the Microsoft 365 apps updating, not with the battery incident. (iPadOS Office 365 update Aug 3 Version 2.112.3)
Device-level remedies have been exhausted with no effect, which is not what one would expect from local damage caused by a crash. iOS AND macOS VERSIONS REMAIN UNAFFECTED. The pattern suggests the app is calculating the correct time interval but failing to retrieve the accompanying text label, printing only a numeric value in its place.
SCOPE
ALREADY RULED OUT
Given that this reproduces on two devices and survives a full reinstall of both the apps and the operating system, I believe this needs to go to the iPadOS product team rather than further device-level troubleshooting.
