Hello Ranjith, thank you for posting in the Microsoft Q&A community.
BitLocker recovery mode is triggered when the system detects changes in hardware, UEFI/BIOS firmware, or system boot files that affect the Trusted Platform Module (TPM). On modern laptops like your Lenovo IdeaPad, Windows Device Encryption is frequently enabled automatically during initial setup whenever a user signs in with a personal Microsoft Account or a Work/School account (Microsoft Entra ID). As part of this security design, the 48-digit recovery key is automatically backed up to the cloud account used during setup.
To locate your recovery key and regain access to Windows, please try the following resolution steps:
- Check Personal Microsoft Accounts: On a smartphone or another computer, navigate to the Microsoft Account Recovery Key Portal. Sign in with any personal Microsoft accounts you or family members might have used (such as Outlook, Hotmail, Live, or even a Gmail/Yahoo address registered as a Microsoft Account).
- Check Work or School Accounts: If you ever registered an account provided by an employer or educational institution on the laptop, sign in to the Microsoft Entra Account Portal or contact your organization's IT administrator to retrieve the key.
- Identify Forgotten Microsoft Accounts: If you cannot recall the exact email address used, visit the Microsoft Account Username Lookup page and enter your mobile phone number or alternate recovery email to locate associated Microsoft accounts.
If you are able to access Advanced Options -> Command Prompt in the Windows Recovery Environment (WinRE), you can verify the status of the drive encryption by entering:
manage-bde -status C:
If the key is permanently unrecoverable, the standard workaround to perform a clean reinstallation of Windows. You can create bootable installation media on another working PC using the Windows Media Creation Tool, boot your laptop from the USB drive, and perform a fresh installation. Please note that performing a clean reinstallation will format the encrypted drive and remove existing local data.
